Supporting All Learners: Create Learning Support Systems to Empower Your Students

This session is aimed at school leaders, middle leaders/heads of departments responsible for inclusion or learning support specialists with an interest in Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS).

It outlines key research in the field, how to find an effective system to suit the needs of your school based on data and creating structures to ensure up-to-date information is available and used to make informed decisions in the field of special education and learning support, to ensure no child is left behind. We will also look at how to structure this over the course of the academic year, with key elements to ensure that protocols, progress checks and measures are followed by staff with confidence.

Jonathan Mowjoudi

Jonathan Mowjoudi is an experienced educator and leader specialising in Special Education and Learning Support. Currently based in Zurich, Switzerland, he lives with his wife and young son while serving as the Learning Support Coordinator at the Inter-Community School, Zurich. In this role, he oversees primary education support, ensuring that students with additional needs receive tailored interventions within a supportive learning environment.

Born in Bradford, England, Jonathan earned a BA in English Language from Lancaster University. He further specialised in inclusive education with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and received the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) whilst studying at the University of East London. These qualifications have equipped him to lead initiatives in safeguarding, inclusion, and staff development throughout his career.

From 2019 to 2022, Jonathan worked at Dulwich College Beijing, where he led the Additional Educational Needs/EAL Support department, introduced diversity and inclusion strategies, and enhanced safeguarding protocols across the College. Before that, he held similar leadership roles in the UK, including at Park Primary School in Newham, where he developed a varied support programme for learners with significant learning difficulties in a mainstream setting and implemented staff training programs in communication and social-emotional interventions.

A lifelong Leeds United supporter, Jonathan balances his professional responsibilities with his passion for sports, having also contributed to school soccer programs across his time in education.
