ABOUT THE POSITION


We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Science teacher for grades 9-12 who engages and inspires learners through their own passion and professional practice. An ideal candidate will have significant IB Chemistry HL/SL and/or AP Chemistry experience. Experience teaching Physics would also be an advantage. They will be flexible and excited to cooperate with a team of dynamic, professional Science teachers to plan, deliver, and assess concept-based and student-centered curriculum in a diverse international school setting. A Science teacher at ZIS will hold high expectations for students and will be comfortable differentiating content and instruction in all courses.

 

Requirements

Applicants should have at least 3 years of experience in teaching Chemistry, preferably at an international school. For non-Swiss/EU applicants, international experience is required. 

 

  • Teaching license, including specialism

  • Documented record of excellence in teaching

  • Experience with IB Chemistry HL/SL and/or AP Chemistry

  • Experience teaching Physics would be an advantage 

  • BA / BSc or equivalent university degree

  • Integration of technology into the curriculum

  • Learner-centered focus

  • Understanding of concept-based curriculum and instruction

  • Understanding of the importance of scientific inquiry and lab work to support student learning and develop curiosity

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development

  • Ability to differentiate for diverse learning needs

  • Emphasis on relationship building with students and colleagues

  • Teamwork, collaboration, and active participation in school life

 

Job Requirements

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred.

  • Master's degree preferred.

  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
