ABOUT THE POSITION
Teacher of Music with responsibility for peripatetic teachers
We are seeking a full-time Teacher of Music to inspire students in both Junior and Senior Schools. The role primarily involves delivering engaging music lessons across a range of abilities and ages, while also overseeing our peripatetic teaching team. Responsibilities include encouraging musical expression through ensembles and groups, administering private lessons and managing peripatetic teachers, collaborating with the Arts Faculty on school productions, and actively participating in extracurricular activities and weekend events. A fully qualified teacher with at least two years of experience in international education, as well as a musician proficient in teaching at least two instruments to a high level, is required.
Music at Le Régent International School
At Le Régent, students In Kindergarten to Grade 8 receive one or two periods of Music per week, complemented by extracurricular opportunities such as choirs, bands, orchestras, instrumental lessons, and other optional clubs. From Grade 9, Music becomes an option in pre-IB, the IB Diploma, or the Le Régent Certificate pathway.
With the adoption of the IPC and transition to the IMYC, Music will integrate recognised pedagogies with progressive, hands-on approaches and transdisciplinary opportunities. In secondary school, the curriculum aligns with IB Music, ensuring a seamless transition to the Diploma. Music technology and production are key components, alongside internationally recognised instrumental qualifications (ABRSM, Trinity College London), supporting students' development as performers, creators, and leaders in all musical genres.
