In Review: SGIS Honour Choir Festival

Over 90 students from seven international schools came together at International School Basel for the inaugural SGIS Honour Choir Festival on 2–4 October 2025. Separate Middle and High School choral ensembles rehearsed together for three days, exhibiting much musicianship, collaboration and good humour.

Students were required to prepare seven pieces in advance, icluding a combined closing number, “The Rhythm of Life.” During the festival, 4–5 teachers conducted each choir, giving both students and directors the invaluable opportunity to learn from one another. Beyond rehearsals, students enjoyed time to socialise and form friendships across schools.

The festival culminated in a truly memorable performance at the historic Martinskirche in Basel, leaving students, teachers and audience alike inspired. It was wonderful to see students’ passion for the arts shine a radiantly. In a world increasingly shaped by technology and AI, moments like these remind us of the shared humanity woven into the Arts.
