ABOUT THE SCHOOL
For over 70 years, Aiglon College has offered students a holistic and inspirational experience that pushes the boundaries of traditional education. John Corlette founded the school in 1949 on a distinctive ethos: the balanced development of mind, body, and spirit.
The school, nestled at 1,200 metres in the Swiss Alps, is home to over 460 students, from 7-18 years old, representing more than 60 different nationalities. From junior through to senior school, students benefit from all the advantages of an international boarding environment. They form lasting bonds with each other and with excellent educators who guide them towards academic and personal success. Aiglon considers intercultural education to be foundational elements of its school culture, values, practices and preparations for life.
Aiglon staff are enthusiastic, experienced, committed, reflective, dynamic and willing to try new ideas. They have varied and diverse interests and passions that are evident both in and out of the classroom setting. The school fosters a collaborative, open-minded, dynamic, intellectually curious and purpose-driven work culture.
Aiglon’s remarkable national and cultural diversity is an inspiring example of how, on a small scale, we are able to build a harmonious and fulfilled community.
ABOUT THE POSITION
The ideal candidate for this position would be a native speaker of French who is a specialist in IB Language B, ideally with experience in teaching Language A (Language & Literature). The successful candidate should also have experience in teaching IGCSE French and DELF, and would be expected to be flexible in teaching all age ranges. The school is however open to all applications from inspirational candidates.
The World Languages department consists of 20 full-time and part-time teachers. It is a busy department which emphasizes teamwork, the sharing of good practice and an innovative approach to all that we do. As might be expected in a languages department in an international school, our main philosophical aim is to ensure diversity and multilingualism and, to this end, we offer as wide a variety of languages as possible. The main languages are French, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, German and Spanish, but we also have students studying towards qualifications in Arabic, Portuguese, and others.
