ABOUT THE POSITION


This position may be a full-time or part-time role and could include a residential role in one of the boarding houses (combined with a teaching role) for a suitable candidate.


In languages, Years 7 and up are taught by specialist teachers from the faculty of languages: Years 7 - 9 follow the Aiglon Discovery Curriculum; in Years 10 and 11, they prepare for IGCSE or follow the Aiglon pre-IB curriculum and in Years 12 and 13 prepare for the IB Diploma.


The language faculty includes Spanish, French, Mandarin, Japanese, German, Italian, Turkish, Arabic, Portuguese and Russian specialists. The faculty has 22 teachers (3 for the Spanish Department). We are a friendly, collegiate team who enjoy sharing ideas and best practices. Our schemes of work include a significant emphasis on fun activities and student-led inquiry; we have access to numerous online subscriptions and resources. The faculty is committed to developing the quality of languages offered in the extracurricular activities programme.


The successful candidate will be able to teach Spanish across the full age and ability range, up to and including IB Higher Level and potentially to primary years. You will be willing to contribute to supporting the language department outside the academic curriculum. The ability to teach a second language up to IGCSE level would be an advantage but is not essential. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and inspirational practitioner who enjoys working as part of a wider team, with a passion for languages, a good sense of humour, and a proven track record of supporting students to make excellent progress in their linguistic learning.
