Teacher of Arabic Language and Literature

FROM SEPTEMBER 2023

“Truly Swiss and truly international”, Le Régent International School is a 4-18 independent co-educational boarding and day school. Founded in 2015, it is the youngest and the most modern international boarding school in Switzerland. Le Régent is a dynamic and growing IB World School. We provide a multilingual and multicultural educational environment to over 250 students from 45 countries.
The school is committed to holistic educational principles, combining demanding academic curricula with extensive sporting, arts and public-speaking programmes, leading to IGCSEs in Grade 10 and the International Baccalaureate (or the Régent Graduation Diploma) in IB2. Language options are particularly strong and many students speak at least two languages fluently.

Located in Crans-Montana in the Valais canton, Le Régent’s Outdoor Education programme comprising frequent expeditions, wild camping, ski-touring and cross-country skiing, takes full advantage of its stunning location to provide students with the personal skills and understanding of the environment that will serve them well in the future.
At the same time, Le Régent is proud of its commitment to contemporary pedagogy. It is an Apple Distinguished school and a large proportion of its faculty are accomplished and intelligent users of technology inside and outside the classroom.
Le Régent International School is an official examination centre for the IB Diploma Programme, SATs, LAMDA, IELTS and Edexcel IGCSEs.
Le Régent has been collaborating with Institut Le Rosey since August 2019.

JOB DESCRIPTION
We seek to appoint an ambitious and forward-thinking first-language speaker of Arabic able to teach the Arabic Literature programme at the IB to first-language speakers of Arabic.
The number of periods will depend on demand, and the Autumn term 2023-2024 starts with six periods a week. The teacher will give one-on-one lessons of 45 minutes on campus or online.
The ideal candidate will be both a qualified and experienced teacher of Arabic as a first language and a foreign language. Although IB experience is highly desirable, Le Régent would fund official training if this is necessary.

WORK PERMITS
Obtaining work permits for third-country nationals is a complex and unpredictable procedure. As a result, we give priority to candidates with a Swiss, EU or EFTA passport. In this instance, since the number of teaching periods is low, a work permit for EU/EFTA citizens can not be granted and we must appoint a Swiss citizen or a Swiss resident.

RECRUITMENT PROCEDURES
Candidates should advertise on the TES platform. Le Régent will then make contact and provide further details of the post.
