Due to our continued growth, International School Rheintal is seeking to recruit an

early years teaching assistant (50% full-time equivalent)

to join our kindergarten team. This role is parttime from 08:30-12:30 Monday-Friday.

As a ‘small and mighty’ not-for-profit international school, we offer a supportive environment and are looking for teachers that are driven to contribute to our thriving community of 150 students and 38 staff. In 2020 we were ranked 9th in Switzerland for our IBDP results and in the top 50 in Europe. We will open a new environmentally conscious school building in 2023. Our teachers are making a significant contribution to the design and development of this project; and you could too! It is an exciting time to be at ISR.

We are seeking teaching assistants who have a/an

  • High school certification (or equivalent) in mathematics and English
  • Teaching Assistant certification Level 3+ or equivalent (to be funded by ISR and completed within 24 months of appointment if member of staff not certified on appointment to role)
  • Knowledge of early years education and experience in supporting students in a classroom environment, including those with special educational needs.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with students and empathise with their needs.
  • Ability to demonstrate active listening skills.
  • Ability to provide levels of individual attention, reassurance and help with learning tasks as appropriate to students’ needs.
  • Ability to monitor the students’ response to the learning activities and, where appropriate, modify or adapt the activities as agreed with the teacher to achieve the intended learning outcomes.
  • Ability to offer constructive feedback to students to reinforce self-esteem.
  • Ability to deal sensitively with complex and sensitive issues.
  • Willingness to maintain confidentiality on all school matters.
  • Ability to work effectively and supportively as a member of the ISR team.
  • Willingness to work flexibly, attending evening meetings as and when necessary, and assisting throughout other areas of the School as requested.
  • Well-presented and professional manner.
