Preferably Wednesday afternoons, Thursdays and Fridays

Purpose

  • To teach English at the International School Zurich North. The successful candidate will be expected to teach English across the full age and ability range, up to and including A-Level. 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Demonstrate a love of literature and language through the delivery of outstanding English lessons.
  • Design and deliver effective teaching programmes, ensuring coherence, relevance and high-quality learning experiences.
  • Design and deliver lessons that engage and motivate students.
  • Create teaching resources that align with learning outcomes and that support students towards success.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom where every student feels respected and valued.
  • Support and challenge all students towards the best possible outcomes.
  • Monitor, assess and evaluate student progress through formative and summative assessment, providing constructive feedback to students and parents and aligning with school and departmental policies on tracking and reporting.
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues. 
  • Collaborate with the Head of English and departmental colleagues on curriculum development and improvement planning.
  • Work with colleagues to build links between the English curriculum, literacy skills and the wider curriculum.
  • Take an active role in the co-curricular and pastoral life of the school. 
  • Participate in school training sessions and parent-teacher meetings.

Person Specification:

  • Qualifications
    Essential
    Undergraduate degree.
    A recognised teaching qualification which enables the applicant to teach in Kanton Zurich.

    Desirable
    Other relevant professional qualifications.

  • Experience
    Essential
    Experience of teaching a range of age-groups.
    Experience of preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations, or equivalents.
    Experience of assessing, recording and reporting on the progress of children.
    Experience of English curriculum development, through the creation of teaching programmes, lessons and resources.

    Desirable
    Experience of preparing students for iGCSE, iA-Level examinations or the PYP.
    Experience of teaching English in an international school setting.
    Experience of bringing learning to life with partnerships and real-life contexts beyond the classroom
