In response to the ongoing challenge presented by Covid19 and the various measures in place to discourage its spread, the SGIS Board has made the decision to cancel the plans to host an in person conference in March 2021.  The conference provides an excellent opportunity to network with colleagues from other SGIS schools, and while we regret not being able to proceed with our plans, we feel it is the right thing to do given the circumstances.

We are, however, seizing this provocation to reconsider how SGIS can support its member schools by engaging different means and employing different strategies, most notably those offered by virtual technologies.  As a result, we will plan to have some of  the speakers we had originally engaged deliver virtual sessions.  These webinars will be part of a ‘Spring Forum’ and spread out over a multi-week period.  More details will be provided in due course.

En réponse au défi  présenté par Covid19 et aux diverses mesures mises en place pour décourager sa propagation, le conseil d'administration du SGIS a pris la décision d'annuler les plans visant à accueillir une conférence en personne en mars 2021.  Cette conférence offre une excellente occasion de nouer des contacts avec des collègues d'autres écoles du SGIS et, bien que nous regrettions de ne pas pouvoir aller de l'avant avec ce projet, nous pensons que c'est la bonne décision à prendre compte tenu des circonstances.

Nous saisissons cependant cette provocation pour reconsidérer la manière dont le SGIS peut soutenir ses écoles membres en engageant différents moyens et en employant différentes stratégies, notamment celles offertes par les technologies virtuelles. En conséquence, nous prévoyons que certains des intervenants que nous avions initialement engagés animeront des sessions virtuelles.  Ces webinaires feront partie d'un "Forum de printemps" et s'étendront sur plusieurs semaines.  De plus amples informations seront fournies en cours de route.

Arrangements for SGIS meetings and events

COVID-19 has changed the way that all schools conduct meetings or events. As an organisation, SGIS wants to promote safe practices.

Board, group and other adult meetings

Unless there are specific reasons to the contrary, we will hold all SGIS meetings online.

Face-to-face meetings are occasionally necessary.  When this is the case, the meeting organiser must ensure that contact details are recorded and that a distance of at least 1.5 meters from other people can be maintained or, if this is not possible, that a mask covering the mouth and nose area is worn by all participants.  Participants should maintain the meeting safety arrangements if they meet in small groups between sessions (e.g. coffee breaks).

It is in everybody’s best interest if we all take individual responsibility for our state of health.  Meeting participants should be aware of the signs and symptoms of respiratory illness and should not attend the meeting if they feel unwell. If after the meeting a person is confirmed by health authorities to have COVID-19, they should contact the meeting organiser so that the contact details of the other participants can be given to the health authorities if necessary.

Student or adult events

All SGIS events must be held in accordance with the appropriate federal and cantonal guidelines.  It is the responsibility of the hosting school to ensure that arrangements are in place so that participants keep an appropriate distance, wash their hands thoroughly and regularly, and wear a mask where necessary.
