Founded in 1956, Neuchâtel Junior College (NJC) provides a unique international education experience for students in their final year of high school and pre-university year. Located in the 11th century French-speaking city of Neuchâtel, Switzerland, NJC students earn Ontario Grade 12 curriculum credits, and have the opportunity to study for Advanced Placement (AP) examinations to earn advanced standing at university. The close-knit community of 60 to 80 students reside with homestay boarding or ‘pension’ families, providing students with a complete immersion in European life. NJC graduates are confident, independent leaders, approximately 85% of whom are Ontario Scholars each year.
Neuchâtel Junior College is a Swiss non-profit foundation of the Ville de Neuchâtel. The school is governed by a Swiss Board of Governors (Le Conseil de Fondation) that works in close collaboration with the Canadian Advisory Committee (CAC). Reporting to both Le Conseil and the CAC, the Head of School provides guidance and leadership for all aspects of NJC: school operations, the academic and co-curricular program, and ensures the well-being of the students, faculty, and staff. The new Head of School will also provide the vision and creative direction for the School by implementing innovative ways of offering an outstanding international education experience to its students.
The new Head of School will be a respected academic leader with a successful track record of fostering a connected and collaborative school community, the ability to mentor and develop staff and faculty, and ideally have experience in a boarding school environment. He/she must be bilingual in both French and English. The Head will also bring a deep understanding and experience in building a culture of philanthropy, and have the qualities necessary to connect and maintain a strong alumni network. Above all, the Head will be a person of exceptional integrity and character, with superb interpersonal skills, and an ability to forge deep and meaningful relationships across the school’s global community.
