Aiglon College are delighted to be hosting a two day Learning Support Conference offering up-to-date training for middle and secondary teachers, SENCOs and department heads who work with children with special and additional needs.
This two day conference will be led by Lorraine Petersen ( www.lpec.org.uk ). Lorraine has 25 years’ experience as a teacher and headteacher and was CEO of NASEN for 9 years. In addition to being awarded an OBE in 2009 for services to education, she was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award in 2010 at the Education Research Awards and in 2013 the Outstanding Achievement Award at BETT. Lorraine is also a qualified Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructor.

 The conference will cover:

  • An update on SEND (UK legislation, complexity and identification of needs, curriculum and assessment)
  • The role of the SENCO / Head of Learning Support
  • Supporting Teaching and Learning (inclusive practice, quality first teaching, differentiation)
  • Access Arrangements (DfE and JCQ guidance)
  • Introduction to Mental Health First Aid
  • Trauma and Attachment – Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)
  • Developing a Whole School approach to Mental Health and Well-Being
  • Understanding specific needs (Dyslexia, Working Memory and Processing Difficulties)
  • EAL and SEN

Costs: 500 CHF both days (includes lunches and refreshments and dinner on Monday evening) or 300 CHF one day only (lunch and refreshments)
Location: Aiglon College, Chesières.
