The Swiss Group of International Schools community extends its very best wishes to Mrs Sigrid Ott who celebrated her 100th birthday this week.
Mrs. Sigrid Ott was born during World War I on a farm in North Dakota, in the United States. She married Fred C. Ott in 1939. In 1945, at the end of World War II, he was transferred to Germany as a U.S. Army Officer. Two years later, she moved with her two little children to Switzerland, the birth country of her husband. Her life has been filled with many adventures. In 1949, after learning German, she started a summer program called International Ranger Camps. In 1960 she cofounded the Leysin American School (LAS), which opened its doors one year later. In 1978, the founding couple retired but maintained a close connection with LAS. She celebrated her 100th birthday on September 13, 2016.
